I was wondering if they have transplant surgeries for pets. Perhaps you could go to the local animal control and have another cat's kidney put in when they put the cat to sleep. Cause I know they put a lot of animals to sleep at animal control. Maybe a transplant coud save your cat's life?
Hey Temp...actually they do. I ran across it when I was googling about her illness. But this wouldn't be an option for us for a couple of reasons.
1) I'm gone too much to provide the aftercare that she would require. The drug therapy can be daily, and the cost of the transplant is, well, it's very VERY expensive. I'd never go through all that, knowing that I'd not be able to care for her properly afterward.
2)She's not a candidate because she's too far gone - she'd never survive the surgery at this point.
By the way, I want to apologize to anyone that I may have offended last night...when I said "sappy pet people". I have many friends in that category, and I sure did not mean it in a derogatory manner.

I'm really sorry about your kitty I remember how sad I was when my cat died. They really can touch your heart.
This is not a good week for pets. My (now) ex-boyfriend's dogs all need surgery. He has three of them that all came down with various problems at the same time. It's probably going to cost him thousands to take care of all of them this week. Probably wasn't a good week for me to break up with him Something tells me at least one of the dogs won't make it much longer, and I just hope it's not the one that's his favorite. He would be crushed.
