so i met this woman a couple weeks ago and we got to chatting
nice looking , cool ,bla bla bla
so we got on the subject of music and i said i like heavy metal and just about any other music too
she said heavy metal. yuk and that was pretty much the end of the conversation

and this has happend to me before

now what is funny is i was seeing a disco band (which is a really good band)

i suppose people have a stereotype about metal heads

well guess what
i have a job, short hair, shave every day, not a drunk, not a druggie, or a wife beater

it would be like saying that if you like dance music than you are a club skank, or if you like rap you are a crackhead shooting people, or if you like country than you drive a primered pick up truck and live on a farm, or if you like elton john than you are gay

it is a shame someone will judge you cause of the music you like

i have no problem with any one listning to any kind of music
even if i dont like it i dont judge people on their music

Don't feel bad. My b/f is a Ralph Lauren wearing, college educated, professional and LOVES metal. He has it blasting in the house when I come home from work sometimes LOL - it's just his thing. He does listen to a lot of music but his first love and what he's most familiar with is, metal.
You are right though, I think people have this image of a long-haired, living in your mothers basement, etc of metal heads LOL
I like rap but I'm a white girl - go figure.

I get this ALL the time too! I listen to tons of other music aside from metal, but I love metal the most. I've been dismissed in the past because of this also, but it's funny because girls that actually stick around and see how varied my tastes are, as well as listen to some of the metal I like end up really impressed with my taste in music. I've gotten a lot of "hey, this metal is really good. I never knew!".

I was listening to Metallica on the way to work today. Later will be anything from Foo Fighters to Sting to Amy Winehouse to the Offspring etc.

Not sure what to make of the gal...she might have been gaming you or serious...it really doesn't matter. Next!

If she was into you, the music wouldn't have mattered.

"If'n you like country, you must be a dumb, uneducated hick."

You want to see some stereotyping going on?
