Which of the options MOST contributed to the breakup of your last committed relationship, or is contributing most to the risk of a breakup of your present relationship?
I intentionally left out a lot of possible causes, and clustered others, in order to see which of the most common causes is most prevalent. So pick one that best fits, even if it not exactly the main cause.
It was my husband's drinking that led to our break up and almost divorce. Things are much better now. He quit drinking all together for a while and now has one a week or so. I don't get playing with fire but he has to prove to himself he can have one and walk away. So far he has. Let's hope that practice makes perfect.
Most of the times it was - the love was gone.
I haven't had a relationship before with (big) issues like drugs or 'his mom hates me' or 'his mates are more important to him'.
We were doing great until he decided to quit his good job to work for a friend's company. What he was offered and promised was not what he got. He ended up traveling about 70% of the time and it caused a major rift. I told him I couldn't be in a relationship with someone who wasn't ever around. He told his boss/friend he wanted to cut back on the travel; He was handed a pink slip the next day. He blamed me. He ran off to "take a break" and didn't contact me for 2 months - no returning my calls, no email, no nothing. When he came back to the real world, he expected to just walk right back into my life. I was already gone.
None of the above stated. I just broke up because I simply wanted to all of the sudden. Well I think the fact that he was not a college student played a role too.
