I'm more of a message adder than a starter. I'd feel lame to open a thread like Ladies: what's your favourite blah blah blah
Would you date a man with antlers (sort of like the one 'would you date a cross dresser'

A transplant as I ran into tons of troubles and inconveniences for calling black people "black".

Definitely, I had no clue of cultural undertones or insecurities.

We learnt in biology when we were kids - about races like Caucasian, Negroid and the like.

People back home still use the term "negro" straight from biology books and have no clue it's offensive. Naturally, these terms were common in my lingo.

I'm lucky I am alive today

That's the way it was when I was in school back home, too. It's just another race... I for one still see nothing offensive in it, but of course I know better than to use it. It seems like things are changing there as well based on what I see in the media at least. I don't expect PC to ever get out of hand there as it did here, though. I don't even think it'll go much farther than the official media... Besides, such things can't become popular in largely homogeneous nations.

I heard the Govt added Negro back to the 2010 census. It seems a lot of older blacks still call themselves that and wrote it in on the last census. It will be used along side Black and AA.

WTH?! And what are they gonna do at the end? Sum up the 3 columns and call it what?

And what's the difference between Black and AA?! I thought both were equally acceptable. Is there some division within the community I'm not aware of?

Census numbers and demographics deterines what needs have to be met on behalf ot he federal governemnt. It also helps to assist in iidentity of minority groups which may also place them in a catory of needing better shools soon.

Economists, manufacureres and marketing firms use this information to determine the highest level of potential in a demografic group as possible.

Additional Census informtion provides information on care and befefits for chidlren and family' and where sould the goverment allocate funds.

As for Black and AA the new buzzword is person of color. I have often questioned the use of using AA to describe a person. Because a lot of these people are from foriegn countries,
