I haven't done a lot of the "dating" thing having been married for 10 years, but I'm sure I'll have some to relate once I hear others.
One that I related to from the guys thread, is people that try to talk politics on the first date, a subject that rarely ends with out the other party being pissed off.
Talking about politics, religion or any other highly debateable subject. I don't mind talking about those things later on in a relationship, but not a first date.
Other than that:
-Turning one after-dinner cocktail into a dozen. Getting trashed on a first date is unimpressive.
-Over-taking the conversation by talking too much -or- being so damn quiet that you have to pull the words out of his mouth.
-Talking about how his previous girlfriend/wife/whatever screwed him over. Don't bring baggage to the first date!
-Name-dropping or trying to impress me with stupid crap that I could care less about.

Politics and religion are 2 surefire conflict areas. I do online dating, so need to worry about meeting anyone that is too far removed from my "comfort zone". Even so, there are always areas where we are bound to have different views. I steer clear of discussing those topics with people I don't know well. I would think that most people would know to do the same. But some just like to argue I guess.
I was on a first date with a guy in early February and he told me how he thought that Valentine's Day was a crock. That kind of turned me off.
Some people just don't know the meaning of diplomacy.. What he should have said is.." I understand the sentiment behind it, but Valentine's Day is a conspiracy by "the man" to delve in to our pockets and come out with all our cash"
lol..believe it or not that doesn't bother me Rugged. It's his reaction to it that can be very telling.
My reaction, "she is sure trying hard for a nice tip"? Caught ya!LOL......
