I just called my BF before I head out to the gym. We talk every day at this time, usually a short "hey whatcha doing" kind of call.
Now we aren't really sappy people, but we are pretty happy so far, and we've spent enough time together now that we have a fairly comfortable phone routine we follow most days at this time. I was almost to the "Well I'll talk to you later" when he said "I'm missing you today...kinda sorta"...and he laughed. I told him I missed him too, that I always do whenever I'm not with him, and he said "Good. Don't stop."
Of course that instantly flooded my heart with warmth. And I have this small private smile on my face right now. Such a simple sincere thing....but the impact is so great. I've never been in a relationship with someone that was so at ease with expressing their feelings...at any time of the day, no matter where they are or who they are with. It's comforting. I'm actually re-learning to do this myself...I think I blocked that side of me a few relationships back - sort of a self-preservation thing.
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
It's so nice to hear things like this. A nice change from the rest of the 'stuff' you see. And I DO remember those warm feelings...I think!
Heck yeah, you can teach an old dog new tricks! It just takes longer sometimes..
On a plane once, there was a beautiful woman sitting beside me, she looked super hot, and she smelled gorgeous !
I said to her "Excuse me, that's a lovely perfume you're wearing, can you give me the name of it please, I think my girlfriend would like it"
She replied " don't buy it for her"
Slightly stunned, "why ?" asked I.
"because she'll only get losers trying to chat her up !!"
I thought it was funny, but I just read my book for the rest of the flight.

Of course, silly me would rather drop the gym and see whomever misses me if possible, but I hear it's "unhealthy"...
