Many times people take advantage of me because I am a nice guy. I still try to do the nice things I do.

It can be frustrating but I'd rather take the high road and treat people the way I want to be treated not the way they treat me. Though I know quite a few people who treat me just great!

IMO opinion if you are sincere in doing something just to be nice you should not be expecting anything in return other than the knowledge within yourself that you have done in kindness, but with that being said a good old fashioned thank you would be much appreciated.
