...care less about money, education, power, status, physical appearance, and all the superfluous things that so many of us tend to dwell upon.
And the more I prize kindness, a caring attitude, happiness, decency, vivaciousness, intelligence, integrity, sincerity.
Just sayin...
Agreed.
And the older I get, the easier it is for me to find beauty in things I never would have glanced twice at in my youth. This may include people, babies, landscapes, flowers, colors, animals, etc. I seem to have thrown my judgments out the window lately.

Yes to all of the above.
Just wanted to add that the older I get the more I prize health & that every day that I have with the people I love is a gift to be cherished. Maybe it came late to me in life, but I think when we're young we feel immortal and that the world around us will never fail us. Well, no amount of amount of money, status, education, etc in the world could have helped me reverse my son's special needs or undo a close friend's devastating accident.

The things on your first list change or dissipate. Money comes and goes, so do power and status, physical appearance fades, education can be increased almost until the end of one's life. The things on your second list are those that never change. An unkind person will not become kind with age; an immoral person will not become decent; a dull person will not become vivacious; a fool will not grow a brain; a fake will not become sincere; a dishonest person will not develop integrity. And it doesn't change the other way around, either. As for happiness -- we just become a little wiser about how to get there.

I so agree with your statement. I don't worry so much, I can laugh at myself, If I want to take off for a weekend we just go, I don't take things so serious anymore unless I really have to and I find that some things are downright funny.
I am in my 50's and love it. Life is good.
