My neighbor is a pastor and has a network of friends who are all similarly dedicated to spreading "The Word of the Lord."
Fine, but what seems odd is that they are all mid-20s, heavily tattooed, funkily dressed, pierced, and quite self-obsessed. They talk about themselves endlessly (but always being blessed), perform Christian Hip-hop, talk about how well they are reaching kids, and brag about being sober and hard-working.
It seems like the cult of Jesus and Justin. This vanity doesn't seem to be appropriate. Doesn't God teach humility? Won't their faith disappear if/when their self esteem takes a hit?
I'm not trying to be a flame, but this is not my parent's Christianity.

Just a little food for thought...your parents Christianity is nothing like the Christianity of 2000 years ago either.
