Because if christians have not been trained, educated, programmed, brainwashed or however you view it from an early age to be closed minded, the mind would wander into the light of enlightenment and free itself from the dark ages belief system designed to control the meek and the weak through fear.
So, if that is the case how do you explain the many examples like C. S. Lewis, he was an atheist who became a Christian?

That's the nature of Christianity. Christ is the ONLY way to them. Therefore, anything that contradicts Christ (or the bible) is considered to be the "anti-Christ". Some Christians still protest the carbon dating of dinosaur bones because it somewhat contradicts the creation story in Genesis.
That is the nature of Bibleanity . . . NOT Christianity.

Although, I know you separate your Christianity from the bible...most don't and unfortunately Bibleanity & Christianity seem to go hand in hand these days. If one is not following the bible to the letter than you get labeled godless, lost, going to hell....you get the picture.

Christians aren't by definition close-minded. Close-minded people who also identify as Christian love to use their religion to justify their close-mindedness, though. But the close-mindedness is present above and beyond the religious belief. Christians can also be open-minded and use their religion to open their minds more. It's about the individual, not the religion.
