For those of you that aren't aware, Leslie Nielsen passed away yesterday at the age of 84, after a brief battle with pneumonia.

With a long and successful career behind him, including Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun and a Doctor in Airplane, as well as Mr. Magoo in the recent motion-picture updates, he will be missed.

Why do people say "passed away"? Why not just tell it like it is? He died. He hasn't passed anywhere.

So if he died, and there's nowhere to pass to, why should anyone care? Death makes no difference.

EDIT: Why should any ATHEIST care? Life and death are immaterial, since there is nothing after death.

Now children, behave yourselves. Whether or not there is anything beyond death, may we all take a moment to remember someone who made an impression on our lives?

He didn't make an impression on mine, but may he go on to a better place anyhow.

Hey there, Debbie Downer, I can tell that you're a lot of fun at parties. LOL

He was a funny guy, but I remember the first thing I saw him in: Forbidden Planet. Surely one of finest best science fiction classics of all time...and stop calling me Shirley.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the celebrities within the Entertainment Forum instead of the R&P forum.
