It isn't. There aren't really any debates going on. It's just something along the lines of, "my viewpoint's better than yours."

Must be. You say so.

Yes

is their a set of rules that nobody has told me about? Is it my responsibility to tell others that their way of thinking is wrong?
There are not two people on this entire board that have the exact same beliefs across the board. So why try to convince anybody to think as you do.

Maybe it's not a religion thing at all with some people maybe it's just a control issue, "think as I do " thing.
It is interesting reading these posts here and the different views but I have no interest in meeting up with other non believers, or joining the club or even wearing the "official" T shirt of non believers.

I do however have a group of friends with a common interest and most of them are believers but that rarely enters into the conversation.
I have no desire to "convert "them nor do I think they are wrong in their beliefs. After all we are Americans and are entitled to our own beliefs.
Atheism is not a belief.

Well, you missed the debate on this one. In the following thread link, fatima was debunked as being a GREAT non-event or a GREAT UFO event. Take your pick.

Some animals are surprisingly sensitive to the plight of others. Chimpanzees, who cannot swim, have drowned in zoo moats trying to save others. Given the chance to get food by pulling a chain that would also deliver an electric shock to a companion, rhesus monkeys will starve themselves for several days.

The Beginnings of Morality?
Biologists argue that these and other social behaviors are the precursors of human morality. They further believe that if morality grew out of behavioral rules shaped by evolution, it is for biologists, not philosophers or theologians, to say what these rules are.
If you have ever studied animals, you might see that there is actually a biological basis for cooperation and even for altruism. No God is necessary. While animals and primates don't necessarily have a *moral code,* the beginnings of moral behavior and ethics are in our genes.
