For those of you out there who wonder why atheist have issues with religion this is a perfect example.
What do you think would happen if I as an atheist and governor said "anybody who believes in god is not my brother". " But I want to be your brother just stop believing in god". Could you imagine the backlash?
There would be no way I would be able to keep my office. I can guarantee this guy will stay in office. It is the south after all.
he was speaking at a church, was he not? is he not entitled to his religion?
i've never been a big fan of religion, but cut this guy some slack...seems you may be grasping for something, out of nothing.
He's governor. He can say whatever he wants AFTER he steps down, but during his time as governor he should not use that platform to make religious comments.
Don't forget, there's always the "It's just a metaphor" trump card.
"That's not what he really meant"
"What he says isn't the same as what is real"
"We all know what he really means"
