Not at all! I bet you won't find many, if any atheists that would remain atheist if verifiable, objective and undeniable evidence could be produced for the existence of gods. On the other hand, if objective, verifiable and undeniable evidence could be produced for the non-existence of gods, how many theist do you think would accept it and give up their gods...huh? How many theists would even investigate the evidence against gods...huh? How many theist deny the verifiable, objective and undeniable evidence for evolution and instead, cling desperately to ridiculous 2000 year old stories that have been proven wrong time and time again....huh? It's quite clear which side are "close-minded."

Maybe so, but it looks like they need to do some work if they want to corner the market on smug insults and personal attacks. Posters like the above have a big head start in that area.

Firstly science is not a religion, it is based on evidence, not faith.

Secondly, and I speak for myself but probably a good many atheists here on this forum, we arrived at the posit of atheism through countless hours of study and experience. We actually opened our minds and allowed the facts and evidence to sink in and change our way of thinking.

I second that; it is true for me.

Yep, pretty much sums it up.

But to those who only believe in physical evidence ..
How do you know for sure that there is no life after death ?
What is your physical evidence here ?
"Thank you"
Sorry, you lost this discussion before it even started. The rules of rational discussion state that you cannot claim that you don't need evidence. The default position is that there is no afterlife. Since you have failed to prove that, and failed to use reason and rational argument, we can dismiss your claims outright as bogus.

We don't know there is no life after death, but it seems extremely unlikely. Just add that to the long list of things which cannot be conclusively disproven. If you believed in everything which cannot be conclusively disproven simply because it can't, you would be bursting at the seams.

First of all, if you take a minute to consider the proposition of life after death, be it heaven, nirvana, paradise, happy-hunting ground, whatever, from a distance, you must agree it is silly.

To conjur up such an existance in the face of an absolute and total lack of any evidence thereof, you must admit, stretches credulity beyond belief, but you can only see this from a distance.

The only reason you believe this fairly tale is because you are afraid of death, to be "gone". So you conjur up heaven to fool yourself into believing you aren't really gonna die - forever.

I'm going to need some documentary evidence that there's not a wild goat named Steve living on Venus that secretly controls the universe otherwise I'm going to have to believe it.

That's the kind of logic the OP is supporting. Anyone can make an outrageous claim and dare someone to prove them wrong. Problem with making a positive outrageous claim is that you need positive extraordinary evidence to support it.

Not if you're a theist.
