I was speaking more to the *possible* origins of these taboos. I probably read the OP wrong though.

Where does the NT condemn homosexuality?
Answer: It doesn't.

Rafius tells us that the NT does not condem homosexuality. REALLY!

Well Rafius, can you explain Romans 1:27 to us?

And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

And Rafius, Romans 1:27 is found in the New Testament.

The strength of religion comes from its creation of community...not just community but that community built on a common identity and the exclusion of others. No better way to create cohesiveness than to group together against a common enemy. The way you get people to go along with this obvious tactic is to butter them up and make them feel superior about themselves.

It's purely psychological drivel...and that's why only the weak-minded fall for it.

People that are genuinely comfortable in their own sexuality and with their own lives are usually not so hateful towards others. If you find inner peace - then you are able to be more loving and understanding to others. You don't have to approve of other people's choices or even understand them - but hate is never a good thing.
Wait what?! Where in my previous post did I EVER say I hated gay people?!! I have gay friends!! I don't hate them!! What I said before about homosexuality I thought was too much hatefulness because it came off or appeared that way to other people! But I don't hate them!! OMG I don't hate anyone dude.

Okay - that makes me feel better. But when you say things like -

"Straight heterosexual men never have and never will tolerate another man that parades around wearing women's clothes and walking around like a woman or acting extremely feminine. It is an abomination to straight men this type of behavior. And you will find that in straight men from all walks of life in every culture and nation on Earth. It isn't tolerated or encouraged. You will find that they never befriend these type of men."

-it sounds very hate filled. I'm glad you have gay friends. I hope you are kind and loving towards all human beings.

Oh - and you know I'm not a dude!

I agree, except in one area. Not all religions teach hate. Most teach love and care less what social title or class you belong to. The one that care are sadly the ones getting all the attention. Even they are starting to crumble in their hatred for homosexuals.

Well if the new testament condemns homosexuality, that just tells me that it is another BAD bigoted book.

It seems that as society is trying to develop, religion is holding it back.

Whatever was written in a book all these years ago is not completely relevant to society today.
