I truly don't understand how a person can actually worship and follow a religion that so despises gay people?
I don't worship a religion, I worship God. God says that homosexuality is wrong. He makes the rules. I don't hate homosexuals, or anyone else. Jesus commanded us to love one another. Jesus is God, and I really try to obey Him. Admittedly, some people are harder to love than others. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to "go and sin no more". He loved her and forgave her but didn't condone her sin. So it is with homosexuality. You are loved and can be forgiven but you have to acknowledge and stop your willful sinning.

God never said that homosexuality is wrong...God has never said anything. It may be in the bible, but the bible was written by men, and has been used for thousands of years to justify prejudice, not just against gays, but against women and people with different beliefs, among others.
The bible is probably the worst example of hate literature that I have ever read.

In your opinion.

As has many other books or legal codes. Most any book of any significance in forming a culture is used to justify XYZ actions. America's "Declaration of Independence" speaks of Indians as savages and as originally written the US Constitution essentially endorses slavery. The US has almost certainly killed more people in the last 23 decades than Christianity did in its first 23. Possibly more than even in its first 23 after Constantine.

Which only proves that believing that homosexuality is wrong because the bible said so is as morally repulsive as Hitler stating that the Jews are inferior people because they are born Jewish.
FYI Hitler and the Nazi’s Reich Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels were both Catholics and anti-gay.

Reason: correction

God didn't write the Bible and Homosexuality is never mentioned in the originals, so saying "God says homosexuality is wrong" is a complete lie.

There's just one problem here. God doesn't say homosexuality is wrong.

You are absolutely right! However, and sadly, some people would rather die than make a sincere effort to stop sinning. Unfortunately for them, that is exactly what God tells us is the consequence of unrepentent sin-death.
Quote:
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
