Was just mulling this over in my mind: what sin is most repulsive and vile? There is probably an endless list: murder, thievery, lieing, lust, fornication, worshipping idols, etc, etc, etc. But you know what REALLY turns me off, and makes me want to run the other direction? PRIDE! There are a couple individuals I know that are utterly OVERFLOWING and gushing with self-pride. It seems to kind of run off them like a river, and shows in their total personality. Like they are the "best this, the best that", they accomlished this, they accomplished that, they are wonderful this and wonderful that, they are better at this or that than anybody else EVER, they know MORE about everything than everybody else, especially more than the pastor. Neither of these guys go to church anymore, because they were "right" and the pastor was "wrong". Etc, etc, etc.....ad nauseum.
YECH!
I literally have to turn and go the other way when I see them on the street, in the grocery store, etc.
Eeeuuyy-yech!

Bud

I would say rejecting God is the most repulsive sin, because it is turning away from Him with a hardened heart. It is considered the unpardonable sin.

I would say pride would be another ,because it is considered one of the seven deadly sins. It is like I can do it myself ,I don't need anyone's help and I don't look to anyone for help. When we say and feel this way ,we are excluding God from the picture. And like you said it is self-pride and it becomes a me me world, instead of Lord I need your help and I give it all to You.

Pride. "God gives grace to the humble but opposes the proud".

How very very true !

Talking about the 7 deadly sins though I would have to say greed as it also seems to encompass most others. Greed is a financial form of gluttony and lust, tends to incorporate envy and pride is a major component of it too. Greed also leads to wrath when thwarted.

Lust (Latin, luxuria)
Gluttony (Latin, gula)
Greed (Latin, avaritia)
Sloth (Latin, acedia)
Wrath (Latin, ira)
Envy (Latin, invidia)
Pride (Latin, superbia)

Imo , the most repulsive sin is christians judging other christians, because of a difference in bible interpretation, or lifestyle or choice of which denomination or non denomination they choose to attend.
