Truly, I think he only had one brick to start with, and that one's crumbling fast.

The only thing I think will happen on Oct 21 is a chilly day in Louisville (looked at the forecast) and I'll have to work 8 hours (looked at my schedule.) And I expect to wake up Oct 22 to work 4 hours on a 61 degree day.

It may be chilly, but it will be Simchat Torah!

I live just down the street from a big Jewish community center, so if that area is popping, I know why.

In most communities, the Simchat Torah celebration begins at the shul, synagogue or temple, and later in the day can spill out into the surrounding streets.

The Hassidim do it up big time:

chabad dancing - Simchat Beit Ha-Shoeva - YouTube

It is a day of great joy and happiness, and includes the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages. Children are given apples and chocolate bars.

They ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): "When will be its appointed time?"
Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (Alone). None can reveal its time but He.
Heavy is its burden through the heavens and the earth.
It shall not come upon you except all of a sudden."
They ask you as if you have a good knowledge of it.
Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (Alone), but most of mankind know not." The Noble Quran.

This guy Camper has to make his mind up. I need to know if the world is going to end on the 21st, because I'm going to be really disappointed if I wake up on Friday and discover that I've got to go to work.

Hardly surprising. The majority of people making vast religious claims have not backed down from their claims either, such as the claims that saying latin at crackers turns them magic. Not backing down from baseless and unsubstantiated claims is par for the course with these people and Harold Camping is far from unique in this.

People are pointing at him and laughing because his claims turned out so wrong and are easy to laugh at. He is an easy target for their mirth. Yet many of those same people go in to churches to get their magic crackers every week or to hear stories about a how their god came to earth to impregnate an underage girl in order to give birth to himself.
