I think this is the main point to believe in a God. Honestly, what do you think about that?

We were born in a world, a universe,... where we know nothing but we must die someday.

I sometimes think about it and I feel a great fear of death. Then we choose to belive in a God to fix that awful feeling.

On the contrary... some of us know... seek and ye shall find. Maybe this will help you with your fears... there's no such thing as death... it is continuous existence... think of it like this... we just move... from one world to another... from the material to the spiritual... and this world is an image of where we're going.

This is an interesting thread.

I have been trying to wrap my head around the whole concept of what a universe is, and where it starts and where it begins. And, to top that off, I wonder what is really on the other side of death. (please, no bible thumping!).

Really, I'm not so much scared of death, as I am saddened by it being the end of life as I currently know it. Here's to MANY, MANY years of enjoyment to come!

Well, not to worry... what you have in the way of thoughts and memories are going with you... along with a spirit body that looks exactly like the one you have now... so go look in the mirror and if improvements need to be made... now is the time to do it... you might not want to wait until the last minute!

Live your life because if nothing happens, then this will have been the only window of existence you get. There have been billions of people who have made something out of their hundred sparse years. There's no reason why you can't make something out of yours.

Religion is a coercive system of falsehood.

Religion uses God to intimidate you; there is no such thing as God. Religious coercion is motivated by the goal of controlling followers.

I don't think everyone is looking forward to recieving their "same" bodies back, even with some improvements.
Some people were/are "dying" to get away from thier bodies.
Guess they'll have a surprise come ressurection day.

It is written: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." If we fear God who will judge us, and could sentance us to hell, then we will not do anything evil.

But us as Christians, know God. It is through asking his son Jesus Christ to become Lord of our lives that we find salvation. We no longer fear death, because we fear and love God. Fear him because he is powerful and is in control. But love him because he first loved us.

It is written: "While we were yet sinners Christ died for us".

Religion always tells their followers: do what religious leaders (Bin Laden et al) tell you to do, sacrifice your real life, so you can have a better afterlife (rapture in heaven). If you don't, you are going to hell.

Think about it: why do they always want you to trade your real life for things in afterlife?
