Mike Papantonio expects to hear more Christian dominionist talk from Rick Santorum. He appeared on The Ed Schultz Show yesterday to discuss Santorum's warped view of religion — a view that includes no rights for women and attacks on those who believe differently.
"Santorum is off the wagon, he is saying things that are just amazing," Schultz remarked.
"Santorum really has become the Republican version of the American Taliban," Papantonio said. He compared Santorum's version of Christianity, which condemns President Obama's version of Christianity, with the Sunni killings of Shiite Muslims who they perceive to be reading the Koran wrong. "The fundamentalist oddballs that Santorum is talking to with this brainless biblical babble are the dominionists; they're fundamentalists. And unfortunately, Ed, there's six national television networks that are dominionist in the country, 2,000 religious radio stations. So when he's talking about things like Hitler, and he's talking about things like our president not being the right kind of Christian, that's who he's talking to — 70 million evangelicals in this country, 200,000 evangelical churches."
Personally Santorum scares the hell out of me, for there are millions that support returning to the ignorance, intolerance, and pure unadulterated hate from pure stupidity that would vote for him.
Santorum doesn't speak for the Catholic church and doesn't behave or even think like a Catholic. The RCC is anti war, anti death penalty and plead for social justices like national healthcare and higher minimum wage......all the things that Santorum is campaigning against......the guy scares the hell out of me.
I'm Catholic and Santorum scares me too. He's not at all indicative of the Catholic church's stance on things. The church is more moderate than he is. This upcoming election is no fun.
Santorum scares me as well. It has nothing to do with Catholicism.
Ash: I love that quote. It is absolutely correct. I've seen it before but cannot recall who said it.
