Can I get I get a witness? Is a Marvin Gaye song (1963) covered by the Rolling Stones.
The question is not if I can get a witness, the question is do I need one?
Many religions have a ritual which will set them aside from all others. The Christians have the baptism and the Jews and Muslim have the circumcision as a rite of passage; a change from one state into another. But why is there a need to show others that you have had this change?
Is God as my witness not enough?
BTW, are Adam and Eve baptised or circumcised?
If not than they can’t be Christian, Jewish or Muslim.

The "prophets" or visionaries whose teachings provide the primary source of wisdom for these religions did NOT create the rules of the churches that followed in their wake.
We too often confuse sincere spiritual quests with arbitrary rules that were imposed by politicians and other power-hungry leaders who perverted the original message.
Buddhism provides the perfect example of this. Buddha didn't found a religion and merely pointed out his observations from years of contemplation and meditation. Since his death, hundreds of versions of "Buddhism" have arisen, none of which are true to the message of the Buddha because he never advocated an "ism" and he never created any of the rituals, costumes or rules of the religions that have abused his name.
Frankly, I feel the same way about Christianity. Jesus was an insightful Jew. I don't see evidence that he intended to found a new religion. Most such evidence is provided via the scribes who were under the influence of Romans and other political forces who decided what would be in the Bible. Very suspect... I'll go with Jesus over the Christian religion any day.
