There was an incident this summer I believe at the Mint here in Philly where they accidentally made and released some without the dreaded phrase. If anyone gets their hands on one or knows how, contact me ASAP.

I scored some godless paper currency a couple of months ago from the '50s. A new gold coin would be a nice addition to my collection.

Just imagine the "in god we trust" phrase gone. It's easy. It's just stuck on there, much like the "under god" is just stuck in to the Pledge. No fancy skill to try and work either in, it's just tacked on.
