Christianity owes as much, if not more, to Mithraism as any of the other religions it arose from.

There are parrallels in the literary composition of the Gospels when compared to secular ancient writings of the times. The writers of the Gospels used common parables, and structure to show of Christ's devine nature as the Son of God.

Excellent post.

Not only that but all the 600+ laws of Moses were not borrowed from any other nations.

Christianity has an empty tomb an a victorious Saviour.

None of these other religions know anything of God choosing people to meet Christ in the air and be transported into the celestial realms where these chosen ones will have an administration to head up all in the Christ, both all in the heavens and all on the earth.

They know nothing of all being given immortality due to what Christ did.

study comparative mythology. the laws were borrowed from Hammurabi code

Jesus never existed. everything you just said are second hand accounts told to you by parents and church people

Horus and Jesus Parallels
Oh boy this nonsense again.

The parallels between Horus and Jesus were largely invented by a nineteenth century Theosophist. Theosophists wanted to find similarities in religions so maybe were overeager to translate in a creative way. The other source is because the Egyptian Christians desired to have stories of Jesus's childhood, but as few are in the canonical texts some Egyptians began to treat stories of the child Horus to Jesus's childhood. Those folk stories from child-Horus (like the young Jesus saving people from crocodiles or what have you) are not canon in any Christian denomination I know of.

I was doing a lecture on Ancient Egypt not that long ago at the local library. Horus was a warrior. He was associated to the hawk or falcon. He fought with his brother Seth. He was linked to the pharaoh's in life hence they had a "Horus" name. That's the real Horus. Don't believe everything you find in old books or on fringe websites.

But anyway tales of resurrection, and even wise people from "the heavens" being killed by human misunderstanding, do exist in cultures without contact with Christianity or who were even pre-Christian. If you have a real understanding of Christianity this is seen as pretty much a good thing. Jesus has resonance or, many missionaries believed, was even prepared for in other cultures. Horus however is not an example of this.

What makes Jesus somewhat different than any "God Man" I'm aware of is that he chose to become the baby of a working-class couple. In Hinduism the gods take human form or become princes with earthly kingdoms. In certain cases in Greek mythology demi-gods will be raised as lowly shepherds for a time, but eventually rule an earthly kingdom or lead an army. If you find real evidence of a pre-Christian working-class/plebian God-man born of a human, as I recall Mithra was born of a rock or cave in most versions, who died than you might have something more direct. Not that that would even prove repackaging as mere similarity does not prove connection. (This is something old-style diffusionists didn't understand so they wasted time trying to "prove" that the Mayas learned pyramid building from the Ancient Egyptians or were copying Babylonian ziggurats or whatever)
