These polls are a lot of fun.

Apparently, 44 percent of Americans believe that natural disasters could be a sign from God. I certainly agree with that, although it's less clear to me what these signs might be communicating in every case. What do you think?

A. God sends/permits natural disasters as divine punishment for sin.

B. God sends/permits natural disasters as a spiritual "wake-up call".

C. God sends/permits natural disasters as an opportunity for works of charity and mercy.

D. All of the above.

E. B and C, but not A.

F. I believe in God, but He has nothing to do with natural disasters.

G. There is no God and natural disasters are purely random and senseless.

B and C but not A.

Matthew 24 makes it very clear that natural disasters will be a sign that the end is near.

God works through the instruments of our hands and feet, and let us no neglect to pray, not only for the victims of the storm, but the people who are assisting in the recovery efforts.

May God bless their mission.

None of the above.

H. If there is a God, they have nothing to do with it. Natural disasters have patterns and serve a purpose on Earth.

The only honest answer is "I don't know",
you should have included that.

I. There are no gods. Natural disasters have patterns even if we don't fully understand those patterns.

Yeah, God's been up there sweating and choking on bad air. He's been screaming at us saying man-made climate change is messing with the earth far faster than he ever could!

He went on to say: I gave you a beautiful, rich land that you have trashed with overbreeding, overburning, greed and indifference!

In response, the Vatican is revising the Sistine Chapel, it now depicts the current Pope driving a Cadillac Escalade. The stick shift is fashioned after the genitals of a small boy.

OK.

We do have some seasonal patterns. Not all are known.

Also Natural Disasters serve a purpose, they bring about new life and shape the world.

There have been natural disasters for hundreds of thousands of years and the Earth and human beings roll on....

Does that book written by stoned out old men give a clue as to the classifications of natural disasters where:

1 = a few people killed, normal natural disaster

through

10 = everyone dies because god says so

????????
