There are many places where the Bible makes no sense.
If you really want to understand about "Satan", there is an excellent source, and there you discover that while there was a being Satan, there was also a being called Lucifer, and another called Caligastia, and many others besides. Even a Beelzebub. Lucifer who was the "main man" did not believe God existed, so he was an
angelic atheist, and he had plans for how we should be educated that were at variance with the instructions he had received via the angelic chain of command. That was his rebellion. But this has all been long resolved. None of them are causing trouble any more. If there are any "devils" they are all ex-mortal beings. No threat to God or indeed anyone except those whose irrational fear puts them into their power base. Because their only power base is fear.
