I stand corrected. Well.... sort of. Very clever of them to elect an Argentinian of Italian descent. This way they technically get a "Latin-American" pope, but without the unspoken complexity and resentments that an actual non-white pope would bring.

I have met some members of the clergy who have impressed me, not only with their intellectual knowledge, but in their spiritual qualities, as well. There are certain teachings that I agree with, but to me these are personal things.
