Bruce Feiler is well known for his book “Walking the Bible.” In his new PBS series “Sacred Journeys with Bruce Feiler,” the best-selling author accompanies Americans on pilgrimages to six of the world’s holiest sites.
It should be. It should be an eye opener to see that other people can have all sorts of similar but different ( ) religions with pilgrimages. I just hope that it won't become one of those purported comparitive religion sessions where all the other religions are presented (with indulgent superiority) as foolish superstitions *(or if worshipping the right god, doing it the wrong way) and the glorious wonder and obvious superiority of the presenter's particular religious belief is the coda to the programme.
Anybody like to confirm whether my fears are justified or not?
THE WAY is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an irascible American doctor who comes to France to deal with the tragic loss of his son (played by Emilio Estevez). Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage "The Way of St. James" to honor his son's desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn't plan on is the profound impact this trip will have on him. Through unexpected and oftentimes amusing experiences along "The Way," Tom discovers the difference between "the life we live and the life we choose.
Oh wow, this looks like really good movie. I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
We have Netflix and my wife takes the time to find movies we had never heard of, and she finds some that are really extraordinary - like "The Big Year" and "The Way, Way Back".
Our whole family loves these movies, even our grandkids.
Martin and Emilio wrote a wonderful book about their relationship and the making of that film:
"Along the Way: The Journey of a Father and Son"
Thank you for mentioning the book. We will look for it.
