While Republicans are not in touch with the gospels I might add that the Democrates are not really that far behind them.

Jesus was pro-choice so there's no way he was a Republican.

"I'am the truth the way..." it's an offer not a dictate.

Hi folks!

Just to let you all know: If this thread is to remain open it MUST discuss the religious aspects of the article, or engage in a discussion/debate that is religious, NOT of a political in nature.

Should the thread become a political debate, or political in nature, it will be shut down.

If that can last much beyond one page I shall be astounded.

It makes sense that if Jesus had existed, he would have supported ideas such as social justice and compassion for the poor and indignant.

He would have been a Jew, and those are key teachings of Judaism (and a constant topic within the writings of the prophets). I think it's one of the main things that keep large numbers of Jews and Catholics loyal to the Democratic Party.

And a fun fact: there is no word for "charity" in Hebrew. Tzedakah, the word typically translated as charity, means "righteousness", and comes from the root meaning righteousness, fairness, or justice. Giving tzedekah isn't a choice, it's a requirement.

That should be obvious to all Christians. The problem arises when it is forced upon us through govt./taxes.

June was right to be concerned about this thread becoming political.

Kinda difficult to discuss this topic w/o getting political. I stopped short of saying more, hoping not to cross the line.
