Nearly everyone on the planet has split-second access to nearly every piece of information that was ever compiled. Religious communities can no longer coop their children up and shelter them from the disconfirming evidence of the origins of their religion. And they can't simply burn people who espouse opposing viewpoints.
Given the age in which we live, will religion be able to survive much longer? It seems like many of the major world religions are turning into watered-down versions of their former self.
Think about it. If you lived in the year 1800, it might be possible to believe in the Exodus story (despite the unlikelihoods in it). There was no disconfirming evidence. Now there is, as anyone can find out by Googling it. So Christianity has to keep watering itself down by throwing out stories of the Bible. Eventually, people get sick of having to water down their religion or come up with increasingly farfetched ways of supporting it, so they just leave (and feel liberated).

People are likened to ' water ' at Revelation 17 vs 1,15 [ Isaiah 57 v 20 ], and according to Revelation [ 16 v 12 ] those spiritual waters [ people ] will dry up spiritually before the coming ' time of separation ' of Matthew 25 vs 31,32
What Jesus taught will survive [ Isaiah 11 vs 3,4; Rev. 19 vs 11,15 ] but the world's troublesome religions will come to a surprising end.- 1st Thess. 5 vs 2,3
When ' they ' [ powers that be ] are saying "Peace" is just a precursor to the coming great tribulation - Rev. 7 v 14
Earth's political set up will have had their fill of troublesome religion and surprisingly turn on her.
The idea that more information spells the death of religion is based on the premise that religion is based solely on ignorance, which is not true. So to answer the question: No.
The information age should strengthen religion. There are more info to learn about religion and web sites you can go to and learn more about the bible, etc.
I am in agreement with TroutDude. The internet will doom Christian Fundamentalism. The Fundamentalist Corporate Machine's main strength pre-Internet was to keep info dangerous to their Machine from congregations by continuously dumbing them down from the pulpit. In the Internet Age any info-seeking Christian can goggle anything they want and get a variety of dissenting opinions to Matt Slick's garbage and then make an informed decision.

Religion is based on the reality of the spiritual. That includes God. Ideas and opinions are just that. They do not change reality.
The information age just like the past ages like reason have only refined truth which will allow people to be closer to God with more power from God , but the majority will fall into apostasy which will invite the devil out of the abyss to rule in the end of times .... More people can get saved through Christ but may fall to receive power from God because of legalism can become a demi-god with Jesus , where Jesus need all the person to receive His power were obedience will be a must as the power people must be lead by the Spirit to receive .... So through Apostasy antichrist will not be stopped by power from Christ where lack of Holy spirit ...... Jesus claims that the harvest of souls will come in an awakening in the end of times , where most of these will be just saved and the power of Christ will not be strong enough to stop antichrist in those last of days before Jesus returns for His renewal ...

1. God will survive. (Abrahamic)
2. Afterlife/heaven will survive.
3. A lot of religious thinking/magical thinking will survive.
4. Organized religions....well...that's a more interesting question. I think (speaking only for me) that organized religion will survive, but be in a much weakend state. From what I'm observing. People seem to be checking the unaffiliated box more and more. Kind of funny....when I think about it...It kind of see a new "reformation" happening. Hmmm......reformation 2.0. It's got a ring to it.
