More than half of adult Americans report they have had a spiritual experience that changed their lives. Now, scientists from universities like Harvard, Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins are using new technologies to analyze the brains of people who claim they have touched the spiritual — from Christians who speak in tongues to Buddhist monks to people who claim to have had near-death experiences. Hear what they have discovered in this controversial field, as the science of spirituality continues to evolve.
The response will of course be (if not simply rejecting the finding out of hand) to say that this may be true, like explaining how a 'phone or TV works, but the person communicating through it is real.
We will (skeptics) of course respond that this is possible but the explanation without that is adequate and we don't need to add unnecessary logical (ir ilogical) entities.
The counter will be that it is NOT adequate as it doesn't explain everything.
We will retort that it explains enough to be adequate as an explanation even if there are gaps.
And I think that is as far as such an exchange could usefully go.
Just a little factoid, Everything you can conjure up is in the brain. Everything. I take you apart and find no you. That is proof that there is no you? I don't tink sooooo.
Everything Me or anybody else thinks of can be traced back to a point(s) in the brain. So "dark matter" doesn't exist because we found it in the brain? lmao, yeah right. What observations (external stimulus) did the point(s) in the brain address and process? That's the next level mommy and daddy wanna beezes.

Also, the fundie tongues lady, is getting decreased activity in frontal lobe, because unlike monks and nuns with whom concentrate, logic, and focus are part of her faith, her brain is going to sleep, and the parietal lobe is just filling in the blanks with gibberish since it's the language area. Short versio, rather than being spiritual, she's an idiot.
(Real) faith is logical. Fundie nonsense is not.
Also. Again, understanding how something works does not constitute disproof.
Atheists think that because you can explain the universe through Big Bang this is an immediate disproof of God's creation. Nope, it just means we have a "how" on creation. Likewise, understanding how the brain is tuned to religion does not make it all in one's head, it means this is a real part of the mind.
I have heard this a zillion times ("we know how weather works, so God can't control it") but it's crap. God isn't a catch-all for what I/you can't explain. God is the origin of natural phenomenon in this world. If something happens and we know how, no, sorry, the burden of proof means you must tell why this would disprove the existence of a God. Generally, this is difficult to do. I can go into a trance. This is part of my mind, my breathing, and my heart rate. But rather than disproving religion, knowing this makes me feel more connected.
