Seriously, OP? Look at that passage. It fits the pattern of coercing people to accept Jesus as Divine or semi-Divine. It seems obvious, to me. It's not a matter of discounting the passages we don't like. It's about looking for passages that could be evidence of the Church's agenda. Jesus preached about God, and the Kingdom of Heaven, and the need for people to accept God; he didn't preach about himself, or try to sell people on the idea that he was Divine and they should bow down to him, or pray to him.

That would be an interesting way to do it. But how do we know what was the Church's agenda though? For example, maybe Jesus really was a nasty religious zealot, and then the church put all of the positive words into his mouth later, in order to attract more followers? Maybe the church wanted to be more mainstream and appeal to "consumer tastes" much like the Megachurches do today?

Again...how do we know that those teachings didn't come later from the church?
Ultimately, what Jesus really said is probably anyone's guess.
Dude...You really need to do your Judaic studies and then you won't be worshiping Satan so much...
Oh yeah all hail satan with my nightly prayers to Jesus. Judaic studies? Not a jew not even a scholar. Just a simple person who has a Bible and doesnt try to start controversy

if youre not for God then youre for Satan. Taking people away from God makes one nothing more than a recruiter for Satan's army. Poke at it any way you want but at the end of the day thats what it boils down to.
Means nothing to me. Is he going to influence me more than God and the Bible?
