Except that for thousands of years human beings have participated in male/female marriage. What makes you and this generation so much smarter that you get to decide that every other generation in human history has been wrong?

During those thousands of years there have been some SSM, agree limited in numbers and geography. There are records of it in Europe according to an article Re it's history.
In Canada it is the church that decides if it will perform SSM and we do not even have the same protection of religion has the USA has. I think you are safe in your own little church, as it should be.

Of course any gay couple knocking on the door of Granma's church..... then finding a frowny-faced fundie who thinks they are going to hell for being gay will do an about face, knock the dust from their feet, and get back in the car. "That isn't the guy I want presiding over the happiest day of our lives. Granma would be shocked if she saw how we were treated."
Your side just defined religious morals for generations to come. Sounds like you want a theocracy as long as it fits your ideology.
You still have the right to define your religious morals any way you want.
