It seems to me that the more you believe in monsters, the more they exist. I tell that to my own kids.
Wise words that probably have more truth in them than any of us realize.

Thanks for the kind words. I realized early on that when I was scared (ominous shadow or weird noise) that I was more likely to be MORE scared if I kept thinking about it... It is a vicious cycle. So I told my kids (who love scary movies) that the more they think about the scary being, the more they actually exist in their mind. It works because our imagination is so powerful.

Anyway, what we think comes true... If I think there are monsters (or demons) then they will plague me but the moment I don't believe... they have no power (don't exist).

I am realizing more and more that religion is really about fear mongering more than helping people. I encourage my kids to volunteer... ironically they volunteer at a local christian church.

I cannot disprove God exists.

But I can reasonably disprove the need for a separate individual to torment us.

This is the understanding I've come to within my life:
  • Self/Soul is God. As long as we exist, there is definite proof of God within us, because we are God.
  • God is part of other people as well, and all that we see.
  • The Self is capable of feeling emotion, but good and bad. For instance, both joy and despair.
  • Actually all things are equal. Pain and sadness are part of the human experience. The only downside is actually that there doesn't need to be so much of it, and that it can come from tragic events, leaving out malice from people entirely (no need, really)
  • This is not real. This world is made from our perceptions of it, it is in actual fact, a giant Platonic Cave (or Lotus Eater Machine). All of our life is happening in our heads.
  • Because of this, it is somewhat clear that all human hardship is not in fact from evil, but from our failure to love ourselves. "To love your neighbor as yourself"
Think about the Greatest Commandment.
  1. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind
  2. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
You notice that Jesus was asked what the Greatest Commandment (singular) was, and he gave two answers? It's because these are not separate. When you love God you are loving yourself (and vice versa), when you love others you are loving God (and vice versa), and when you love yourself you are loving others. This happens as an extension of understand what it means to truly love yourself, to be okay with who you are, and see your connection with others. When you feel alone, rejected, or despised this occurs as hardship within this world.

This is why your demons disappeared when you stopped letting them win. It wasn't losing your faith, it was losing your fear.

Naturally, you guys will be unable to see this post. This has been said over and over again (including by Jesus), but our mental perceptions make it hidden to people.

I have an idea that you know more about Satan than any of us--especially since he poses as a beacon of light.

I've already seen a lot of your detailed beliefs about Satan. You don't call him by that name, but everything you say he believes come straight from my understanding of the Great Adversary. Accuse others of "persecuting" christians, hate gay people in a "loving" way, and praise the bible like its a Golden Calf.

Yep, you know more than me about Satan.

Speaking of, ''if we think it is true, it is'....like, if we obsess about falling, we will be
the one in the group that does!
This is not rocket science or news to most aware people.
We see it happen to our friends and to ourselves all the time.
If we believe we will get the job, we do....while our pessimistic friends never
have anything work out for them...

I believe in demons as much as I do mentally deranged murderers and mentally
deranged dead people whose spirits hang out around this earth plane.

However, I DARE any robber or bad ghost or evil entity to come around me...
Try it!

Weak, fretting people can tell you there ARE demons, robbers, or evil spirits hanging
around them...they don't come anywhere NEAR me. Lemme tell ya!

Satan got bored with me a decade ago...I don't play with 'him'...pure and simple. I mean it!

Can I prove it? Just look at my life now!

Bulmabriefs and Wardendresden...whoa....great posts above!

there isn't a satan. god has no opposites because god is the totality of all things, when seen from that viewpoint of oneness, all inclusiveness. "satan" the concept is just a form of distorted, isolated energy (all energy comes from the source) which manifests in hatred, negativity, fear, anger etc... which are all incomplete, divided energy forms. seen all together, all things as one, it's god the one and only and no satan - separate energies no longer take their individual detached forms. negativity of any kind, any evil, these are all thought forms which disappear under the light of god awareness and inclusivity.
