And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of Polyphemus
On Revelation 13: 1.......```The dragon stood on the shore of the sea...And I saw a beast coming out of the sea . It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns and on each head a blasphemous name ......``......... So what are the seven blasphemous names on this beast , they are Envy, gluttony, avarice, lust, pride, sloth , wrath ........Where the ten horns represents blaspheme against the ten commandment and ten crowns represent victory against the ten commandments ..................I do not see the Greek myth polyphemus or cyclopes one eyed man eating giant
and I saw, and lo, in the midst of the throne, and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb hath stood as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the Seven Spirits of God, which are sent to all the earth, and he came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who is sitting upon the throne.
And I see the living creatures, and lo, one wheel [is] in the earth, near the living creatures, at its four faces. The appearance of the wheels and their works [is] as the colour of beryl, and one likeness [is] to them four, and their appearances and their works [are] as it were the wheel in the midst of the wheel.
In their four sides, in their going they go, they turn not round in their going.
As to their rings, they are both high and fearful, and their rings [are] full of eyes round about them four.
Where wast thou when I founded earth? Declare, if thou hast known understanding.
Who placed its measures -- if thou knowest? Or who hath stretched out upon it a line?
On what have its sockets been sunk? Or who hath cast its corner-stone?
In the singing together of stars of morning, And all sons of God shout for joy,
And He shutteth up with doors the sea, In its coming forth, from the womb it goeth out.
In My making a cloud its clothing, And thick darkness its swaddling band,
And I measure over it My statute, And place bar and doors,
And say, `Hitherto come thou, and add not, And a command is placed On the pride of thy billows.'
Hast thou commanded morning since thy days? Causest thou the dawn to know its place?
To take hold on the skirts of the earth, And the wicked are shaken out of it,
It turneth itself as clay of a seal And they station themselves as clothed.
And withheld from the wicked is their light, And the arm lifted up is broken.
Hast thou come in to springs of the sea? And in searching the deep Hast thou walked up and down?
Revealed to thee were the gates of death? And the gates of death-shade dost thou see?
Thou hast understanding, Even unto the broad places of earth! Declare -- if thou hast known it all.
“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades?
Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons
or lead out the Bear with its cubs?
Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?
“Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of Polyphemus
You are mixing your myths Gramps. Polyphemus was the man eating giant described in Homer's Odyssey. Virgil indicated that Polyphemus was a one-eyed cyclops. No one ever described him as seven headed however. Except you of course.
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads andten horns
I never understood this.
Why horns are synonymous to evil?
In the real world, animals with horns are usually herbivores who are not violent or viscous. The peacefully graze on green vegetation and do not kill other animal for food or territory.
You have dear, cow, goat, etc.
On the the other hand, animals with canines (no horns) are somewhat more similar to an evil. Many of these animals are vicious and kill other animals for territorial dominance and meat since these canines bearing animals are carnivores.
Here's the old boy... Kind of 'wispy' in the image but he's there raging at Ulysses for putting his eye out..beware revenge when you do something like that. Ulysses thinks he's 'escaped' but he's got a Neptune to deal with courtesy of Polyphemus.
