I'm not sure where to put this - I'm invited to a Baptism (I'm not religious), and I'm not sure if I should give something other than a card. (I'm also on a seriously tight budget if that helps). I'd feel like a hypocrite getting something religious and there will be a ton of family there for those type things. Help.

I'd suggest the gift really depends on how well you know the person. If you barely know them, then a card would probably suffice. If anything, maybe $10-$20 in it would be a nice gesture.
They haven't sold paper savings bonds for many years.
You give the printable gift certificate. That way you do not need the child's social security number, and the transaction is secure. No losing the paper bonds.
It is a much better system. You and the parents need a Treasury Direct account.
Thanks but I know that part - I don't have one (don't want or need one) and don't know if the parents have one. It was so much easier when you could actually buy a paper bond and enclose that - I can't imagine that sales haven't suffered greatly.
Best gift is a bible , you can find a Bible at a low cost at a bible thrift store or maybe just any thrift store would have a good looking bible
Why? A baby can't read a bible, and if everyone gave him a bible, you'd have a bunch of bibles for a baby who can't read. That's an odd suggestion, IMO.
