Apparently her daughter asked her what she thought and that is what she answered. Would the mother lying to her daughter make you feel happier? And if God whose god? She also told her daughter that some people do believe in a god and that the daughter could too if she chose.

Sometimes religious people think that others should only be taught what the religious person believes. How do you know that God is not just a story? How do you know that if there is a god that it is the one you believe in? Would you tell your child that God exists for certain and they should or ,use believe in him?

Great. Because her child ASKED her what she THOUGHT. Would you lie to your child?

EDIT:

I see Badlander said essentially the same thing.

Yeah I suspect we know where that rant was going based on the non answers.

This parent said God is just a fake story. That is a statement of truth
on an impressionable mind which conveys authority the parent does
not rightfully possess. It is abuse.

By your own standards, it is no better than saying God is true.

I have no problem with the parent who says, "I don't know", or
"you'll think about that when you get older", or whatever, but
the parent who tells their young child there IS no God is a monster.
Would you also tell your child that you don't know if murder is wrong because there are some people who believe in human sacrifice?

If you really believe there is an undetectable yet allpowerful being that wants you to know it loves you....for no other reason than you exist....then I'm sure that being is also capable of figuring out how to convince people that think the story is fake.

I Raise My Child In An Atheist Atmosphere

Wouldn't it be wonderful if ALL parents stopped indoctrinating their children, and wait until they were mature and could make their own decisions?
How about we start with parents just doing their jobs. "religious teachings" are not what is destroying our schools today. Its parents that think it's ok to teach cops are the bad guys and living on public assistance is a career.

I totally agree. thank you.

I am definitely on the "moderate"/"middle" duck list.

our side of the field will stand for: work hard earn your keep. Teach your kids to work hard and be honest. Teach them this world aint about me-myself-and I. Teach them that raising a kid that turns into a dangerous person and turned loose on society is the parents fault. Not the cops, teachers, or any other normal citizens fault. Because a momma pushes that thing out doesn't mean she knows what she is doing.

last but most important for me:
Separation of church and state because god has nothing to do with it.

And why is the parent who tells his or her young child that they will endure eternal burning, and create visions in young, impressionable minds of those horrors, NOT a monster? All research shows that well into adulthood that the impact of cult indoctrination can and does have large, residual and negative effects.
You're only deflecting back, without responding to my post, and same for mordant.
I specifically said that I have no problem with parents who leave ambiguity in their
responses to children's questions about a God. If the parent or guardian says they
don't know if there is a God, fine.
This woman told her 3-year old that God is just a story like Santa Claus. I wonder
if she even knows there was a real Santa Claus named Saint Nicholas. Any parent
who tells a little child THERE IS NO GOD, GOD IS JUST A MADE-BELIEVE STORY
is a monster, liar and fool all at the same time.

Or maybe she is a very wise woman, not fooled by campfire stories told by an vagabond band of bronzed aged Middle East goat herders.
