that's not a description, that is an image. if you were making your image ADA compliant for someone using specialized software, what would the text caption describing this image read?
"Making images perceivable is one of the most important ways to make websites accessible. This is why standards require web developers to provide text alternatives for any non-text content . When text alternatives are not provided, or not provided well, many users will not be able to read, understand, and interact with your content."
I think God might be the label for the very being that allows and/or inspires Christians and Muslims and Jews to compete with and hurt each other (even inter-denominationally). Or God might be the very being that lets Hindus wallow in non-Abrahamic theisms (supposedly a horrible fate, although Abrahamism is just as horrible if not worse when studied in detail). Or God could be the being that only once lost control of heaven, but a second time is sure to come if that were true. God is the mental-model of security for the insecure man. God could be the mental-model for point of worship for the man that has nothing else to worship at that point and without worshiping would feel incomplete.
rtuth_teller, there is very much so different reason why al-lahhhhh is used as the word for god. As, semantically, meaning is same, but it's Ok, I'll be the last to get into THAT argument.
Do simple experiment. Sit. Sit straight. Relax. Take a normal breath and then, un restrictidely, through your mouth, pronounce al lahhhh.
What have you noticed?
llaaahhhh results in long exhale. Diaphragm raises up. Air goes out.
Roots to this word and its choice are in ancient pranayama exercise and meditation.
Also, basic forum search will show MULTIPLE threads on exactly same topic. "tell me what god is". MULTIPLE.

I beg your pardon. I should have clarified. So far as the evidence indicates there is no god or gods, and the only way one can use the term other than as part of a debunk is as physicists use it. The natural and physical workings of the universe. And, as Hawking used the term in wanting to 'Know the mind of God", understanding how it all works.

80% of information processed by human mind is VISUAL. EIGHTY. This is why one picture is worth 100 words. This is why the so called "visual imprinting" is the most efficient way to control and manipulate crowd. Via images of various kind as they go directly into visual cortex and are first to be presented to one that interprets them as such.
In English language, average person needs 500 words for day to day communication. On average, an English word has 25 meanings.
This means, 500 words can be interpreted 1250 different ways. As the result, one should safely presume that, going into verbal communication, misunderstanding is guaranteed to happen.
What is actually not my idea. This is part of a very clever and realistic research done for some marketing firm. So much beloved here science.
I have a few problems with that. Tzaph was perfectly right. I knew what my image meant but I has made the error of assuming that everyone else would know.
HW's geographical portrait of God (scratching his head in puzzlement) holding the first couple, one with half the head apparently missing, the other with mouth wide open, shows the other problem. While an image can be striking and immediate it can misled and bypass a lot of explanation.
In the early days, one Creationist loved to post al kinds of huge images supposed to act as Evo -stumpers. Tw dino skeletons drowned in a flood in the middle of combat. That sort of thing. And when I asked why if they were fosils they were white and whether that was how they were found or that was the way they were reconstructed, I got no response.
Silly theists...everyone knows what she looks like...
