I think the historic Jesus was just another rabbi, prophet, shaman. Just another special person who was not really so special.

However, the events of history brought him into focus and transformed him into a pagan god. The dying god, the reborn god, the half god half man, the trickster, the mediator, the savior. Etc.

Jesus became a symbol standing for everything good, everything that we humans want and need.

Other religions have similar kinds of symbols. There is nothing unique about Jesus, in my opinion. But he is valuable as a symbol of the universal love and wisdom that is available to all of us.

My faith is non-dogmatic. I don't need silly myths to be literally true. I don't have to close my mind and be unscientific.

I think a lot of people probably think of Jesus the same way I do.

You mean....You better believe in him or else?
Using Jesus as a weapon of fear...like the government does; control the masses with fear, yeah,
that's the ticket.

Jewish records have 6 or 7 historical figures that were called Yeshua - none of them was called Jesus - that could have been a prototype for one later named Jesus. It sort of looks like as if a decision was made to develop a new religion and a historical character was chosen to proceed with it. Fast forward to Paul and Peter and so it went.

And that kind of Jesus doesn't expect anything from you. People like him because it allows them to be in charge instead of God.

"Wherever two or more are gathered..."

This is one of the verses that has always fascinated me. I have memories of being with certain people, and always remember ANOTHER person who was not actually there. That could only be the spirit of God as far as I'm concerned. The difference is that there was a positive energy with those particular gatherings. I would be prompted to think of the people who were there, along with another man who was the MAIN one. But then I realized that the man was not actually there.
