"China’s Orwellian War on Religion
“Concentration camps,” electronic surveillance and persecution are used to repress millions of people of faith."
Although Christians churches have been destroyed, Christians are not subject to the concentration camp like facilities and "re-education" that Muslims in northwest China are. Imagine if this happened to Christians the outrage one would see on here, rightfully so.
It is unfathomable that any group of people, whether of faith, color or ethnic origin be subject to this. Has the world not learned?
Why are Christians not outraged and posting on here about this?

In all fairness, considering where this is, part of the reason is what can we do about it.

Other than public pressure that our politicians bring this up again and again, probably not much. But you know that if Christians were exposed to this abuse even close to the numbers that Muslims are in China, this board would go ballistic, preachers would go ballistic, and politicians would actually notice.

Probably because none of them have ever heard of this, although I'm not sure some would have the same empathy for Muslims. I hadn't heard of it until this article. Thanks for posting it.
phet is correct. What DO we do about it?
When my daughter was living in Beijing in 2015, there was a huge explosion and fire in chemical factories, including some that made cyanide, in Tianjin, about 60 miles away. The Chinese government said everything was fine, nothing to worry about. (The US embassy sent out warnings that if it rained in the next few days, immediately shower and wash your clothing.)
I saw a news article with Chinese protesters holding signs about the Chinese government keeping the danger of fallout from the explosions under wraps, and I told my daughter I was glad to see they were speaking out. She said, "Yeah, Mom, and by now they're either dead or in prison."
But hey, we need cheap clothing and trinkets, so we just ignore abuses of human rights.

I'm not sure what the other poster's experiences are, but I lived in Thailand for two years, and in all spent about 7 years there. Dealing with governments like China...and even Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia is NOTHING like dealing with western governments, and particularly the United States.
The way Muslims are treated in Thailand is disgraceful. Not that they don't create many of their problems themselves.

That is a shame to hear.
Follow-up to the explosion story--a few days later my daughter sent me an article from a news outlet in India showing the river in Tianjin littered with dead fish.
The Chinese government's response? "The fires from the explosions sucked all the oxygen out of the air, which in turned sucked all the oxygen out of the water, and the fish drowned."
In the USA, such a moronic statement would draw fury, but in China, everyone grins and says, "Oh OK. The government said it, and they know best."
Any change about freedom of religion or any other freedom would have to come from inside, and it's not looking good.
