If it turned out to be true..........If The Day of The Lord came, and you were an unbeliever, would you finally believe, when seeing Him come down from the clouds? I have a friend who is Agnostic who says that their view would be: they don't believe unless they see it, so if it happened, they would then believe. How about Atheists? Do you feel the same way? If He came down right now, and you were face to face, would you repent, or rebel against Him still, and choose hell for eternity? We all know I allready believe in Him, so I know it He will come, but some don't think it will happen.

It's just a simple question: Which would you do; believe and repent or reject and perish in hell?

Thanks!
LuLu

(sorry, but I AM a believer and will post anyway )

I don't think anyone will be able to deny the truth when they are faced with it. However, I think the dilemma will be...What will they DO with the truth once they are faced with it? I think there will be some that will fall to their knees and cry and beg God for forgivness. I think there will still be some that will be too proud and stubborn to give glory where it is due...But hey, that's juts IMO

Yes, kawg, that's it exactly! That's the question, which way would they go, what choice would they make?

Thanks.

Okay, I'll go ahead and be the first non-believer to respond to this (although someone else may be typing as I type). I've often told my best friend, a Christian, that it would take me witnessing a miracle, for lack of a better word??, to reconsider my position. I'd have to have a first-hand account. That's just the way it is. First, of course, I would question my sanity. I've been posed this question before and my answer is, I just don't know what I would do. Would I be too proud? Pride is a tricky dilemma for all of us, however we view religion. I can't see into the future, so I don't know what I would do. I just don't know. That's as honest an answer as I can give you.

Thank you for responding!

Are you saying that it wouldn't take necessarily Jesus' return for you to change your unbelief into belief? For instance, if some miracle occured in life before the second coming of Christ? Just to clarify.

I was once a non-believer, and it took many things for me to see as well. But if those things were not to have happened and I was to go on as a non-believer, I think my answer would've been, yes, I would believe when faced with Him.

Thanks again for responding! You all, I have to go right now, but I'll be back tomorrow. I hope I have many more responses to the question by then. Please, everyone, try to keep your responses respectful. Have a great evening!

LuLu

I would have to see it before I could believe it. This has been the most postponed event in human history so I'm not expecting it but I'm always open to new evidence and if I looked up and observed a spectacular event in the sky which turned out to be the return of Jesus I'd probably just mutter something like "this doesn't look good dude!" and promply die of cardiac arrest. By the way, being the skeptic that I am, the only way that Jesus could come down from the heavens and be seen by everyone at the same time would be if the world was flat (just thought I'd throw that in).

At any time. But since I don't think there's any evidence of or for miracles or magic or anything supernatural, I would first look for a rational explanation . . . not that I can rationalize or explain everything, no philsopher I. And as I said above, I'd really question my sanity. For 20 years people have been trying to present me with evidence of what they believe is the ultimate truth of Christianity (again I have to use the ????????? for the word 'evidence"), and so far it's a no go. If something happens, I'll let you know (I've written down your screen namel just in case

What I don't understand is why Christians think we as Atheists wouldn't believe if God came down and started talking to us. We're not stupid, and we believe what we do by making a series of scientific evaluations as to what is real and what isn't. From a purely analytical standpoint, science leaves very little room for God and thus I cannot force myself to believe in something that does not exist.

It's a heart thing and no you cannot force yourself to believe, it doesn't work that way, when someone chooses to believe in Jesus as Savior it is in response to the urging of God's Holy Spirit, then we decide whether to believe or not. No one can believe in Jesus without God's help.
