You are both right. Let's quit arguing about whether God exists and discuss How has your view of religion or spirituality evolved as a result of spending time on the forum?
I guess the biggest thing is going from listening what religion says to actually going out and see what is happening. Then measure it. I never understood faith, most people would want people to go learn for yourself.
Look at love. the emotion is real enough but where it lands could be a problem. look at misplaced love. Then the question comes up, are we seeing misplaced love or are some people describing love wrong? What does what we are seeing everyday match better? misplaced or us describing it incompletely? Then filling in a gap with things like Satan spackle?
Yes every day that I spend on here I am more and more convinced of the fairy tale that is religion and its many faults.
That's been my experience, as well, and ironically it because of less than a handful of the christian posters, not because of what any of the atheists have posted.

It would help if you would separate the belief in God from religion so that you don't mistakenly believe that when you refute specific religious beliefs ABOUT God that you are somehow refuting the generic belief in God. You are NOT. Belief in God as the reason we and everything else exists does NOT depend on the myriad religions and their beliefs ABOUT God.
It has often seemed to me that Some Theist posters do a better job of discrediting Christianity that all the atheist efforts can.
And they pat themselves on the back while doing it. Several times I have suggested to individuals that they stop, reconsider their approach, and I tell them they are hurting their own cause. Nope. Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead.

Thank you.

Of course the atheists have, in the first place, to post the rebuts to elicit the apologetics, some of which are in fact pretty good, but Some are so bad they can do more deconversion -work than the atheist posts. They are some of our best helpers in changing views about religion; your own evolved views being an example.
