Or a bunch of people in a lab trying to play "god" with creating diseases.

This could very well be his way of saying.."Don't do what I do."

What's wrong with wanting eternal life? If YOU believed in eternal life, wouldn't YOU want it, too?

Tell me, Mr. Believer, if your religion didn't include an eternal existence in heaven, would you even bother to give it the time of day, much less believe, much less overlook all the MASSIVE contradictions between dogma and reality, between scripture and truth?
Id venture to say that you would laugh at anyone putting forth such a preposterous belief system, if it were devoid of your beloved empty promise of eternal life.
You've sold your humanity for an empty promise by a non-existent deity.
You've apparently sold your intellect to your anti-dogma views because no matter how soundly you refute the dogma, that has zero impact on the empirical question about the EXISTENCE of God. It makes the dogma very unlikely but does nothing to refute the existence of God. That is a question about the ONTOLOGY of our Reality. Look it up and educate yourself because science can play no role in refuting the question of the ontology of our Reality.

It's not the lure of heaven that motivates fundies. It's their knee-knocking fear of their god's wrath and the ever-present threat of eternal toasting.

That's the way it was in Genesis.

By scientific standards, Covid isn't considered to be "life".

We can debate if God is giving it, or if God is allowing it. It's 6 in one hand, half dozen in the other.

But I know of nowhere in the Bible where he promises that people would never face hardship or trouble. Read the Bible, and you'll see he routinely used sickness and hardship to judge people, and to turn them to him.

The fact of the matter is, our nation has done a lot of things that God would entirely be justified in judging us for. I'll be honest, I haven't prayed as fervently for awhile as I did when I was laying in bed with a 103 degree temp, gasping for breath.

Well...no. We, as Christians, already believe we're going to heaven, already covered by the covenant, the blood of Christ, etc. We're NOT motivated by fear for ourselves. At least, not anymore. I, myself, am more motivated by the peace and love that passeth understanding, and the "come unto me those who are weak and heavy laden, and I will give you rest, and the Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved. I'm saved. The threat of ever lasting torment is not a threat to me, anymore.

Well, being all-powerful, he certainly could intercede on their behalf...at the very least....if he had any compassion at all.
