I have several close friends who are Sikhs (I grew up with them)... I thus know of their beliefs and practices. Good people and a very interesting religion.
For those that don't know, Sikhs are usually recognizable by their beards and turbans (the younger generation is diverging from this practice, but most of the older generations don't believe in ever cutting their hair).
Thanks! There seems to be lots of Sikhs in northern New Mexico but not many in other places. They have a unique outlook; belief in one God, reincarnation, and they have no hierarchy (no head of their faith).
From what I understand, one can be a Sikh without the turban, sword, etc. Those who are pledged to be Khalsa "pure" never cut their hair or beard, wear a turban, carry a small sword, etc.
of course they can, but that doesn't make the ones that do any less cool.
