the question you asked was reasonable.
i agree also there was back-pedaling.
Thank you. For a minute I thought I was Alice, lost is Wonderland. One time I was told Atheists have no problem with religion, only deny deity. It was astounding to me, but then that too was quickly peddled back.

it is a matter of convenience. and easy to spot. and when it is pointed out, the excuses are trotted out.

Who told you that? "Atheists" can only be defined by a lack on belief in God (or gods). Everything else is an individual thing.

yes there is a definition for atheist.
the problem that arises is when simplistic sweeping generalizations are made about "believers" or about "atheists."
yes, there are believers. everything else, in words of the post above, is an individual thing.
many atheists like to make generalizations about "believers" or "religionists" but then take issue when generalizations are made about "atheists." that is a double standard.
and to tie this in to the topic of this thread: if someone believes in a single source or Creator of All That Is, the One from which everything springs from and returns to, then regardless of what "name" they give that One, it is the same single source. In that sense, there is no "right" or "wrong" one. We may give it different names, spoken in different languages, described in different words, by different cultures, across different centuries on different continents. But recognizing the same One.

No, I don't think that's true at all. That's a fantasy that you keep coming back to. A christian, a Buddhist, and a Hindu do not believe in the same god. In fact, the typical Buddhist doesn't believe in god, regardless of how many times you personally misstate Buddhist belief. The father of Jesus is not Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, and Shiva the Destroyer and reincarnator...and there are christians who would like to damn you to hell for saying so.

humans all come from the same Source. regardless of the labels listed in the post above.
just like we all live on the same planet, whether a person lives in Ireland, Iceland, Illinois, or Iraq.
names differ, same planet.
