some very pacifist aliens may definitely come to the conclusion that brain power short circuiting must have lead to the invention of fire-alms ....

I'd consider myself pacifist, but I support the right to own most guns (including assault weapons). Is that weird?

Of course, these rights should be subjected to regulation (according to what the weapon is), but outright banning is wrong in my opinion.

I am also in favor of ruling a death as a suicide if a burgular breaks in a home and is killed by the owner.

I honestly don't think such a thing is possible. It's just a desire. OTOH though, and ideally, people would have to register and have background checks where their primary residence would come up. Speaking of background checks, given virginia tech, etc, I wish obtaining a gun would be similar to obtaining a license to drive and then some. I realize driving is a privaledge while owning a gun is a right, but there's obviously one too many nuts out there that shouldn't be able to purchase fire arms. And since I live in MA (I'm sure most have heard about the recent kid that shot himself at a show) I really don't like the idea of children being allowed to play with guns; supervised or not. But eh, that's life.
