I agree. Even those who do not believe in God, God believes in them. Isn't that awesome!! Those who live a full decent, loving life can still get into heaven without buying into God.

I do know that once all non believers get into heaven, they will know something about God eventually. You don't have to do it here if that is your choice. God loves everyone and we don't need to push our beliefs on others just to prove we are right. I don't believe the bible is the word of God and we can all search Him out in our own time.

This statement of yours makes you a far more palatable religious person than many here. At least you recognize that one person's reality/truth may not be the same for another.

I appreciate that, thanks.

You can leave your 'stamp' on your children, your business, your attitudes etc.

I look forward to every single day and try my hardest to be a decent citizen, which is my purpose. I don't need punishment/reward to be a good person, as many seem to. Being altruistic, supporting my fellow men and women regardless of religious preference, sexual orientation, color, creed, nationality etc. and hoping that when I pass, my legacy will carry on and maybe others will be better people because we have come in contact.

I know many people who have changed and shaped my life for the better (and worse) and I strive to be that person for someone else. Life is a learning experience and if you refuse to learn, life would not be worth living.

That is my purpose, religion or not.

More likely that you will die and be forgotten--this life is ephemeral.

Does it mean, that people who have other purpose for their life do not have the purpose? My religious friend put this exactly this way: "If you don't believe in God then you don't have purpose in your life".

Actually, the "purpose" in life is to become an individual with a personality and find your own way to God. You've already accomplished that. Anything else is just extra.
Even if you don't believe in God, He believes in you and you can find Him in your own time whether it's here or in the spirit world. God has all eternity to wait.

The purpose in life is whatever you believe it to be. No more, no less. Our choices and decisions dictate our lives. While I do not believe in the Christian God, I do believe there is a source that ties us all together somehow...but that Source is not my "purpose" for living, however.

I would rather have no purpose to my life, than to believe my entire life's purpose was to be a slave and worship a master. That's one of the lowest purposes I can imagine for a life.

Ahhh..but what if there is life after your death? Don't you think then the whoever created you and this universe deserves the title of Master more than the old time white or whatever color slavemasters? For those human 'masters' were just as vulnerable to death & illness as their slaves were. What would His reaction be then to a slave who refuses to submit to Him when that person was alive and who upon reawakening realises to late......

I don't believe that there is life after my brain ceases to produce thought. I also believe a life can have a purpose with there being a God.

But regardless, my point was that if I had to pick the more depressing thought, life without a purpose is less depressing than a life whose only purpose was to be subjugated and forced to worship a master for all eternity.
