Well, the hardcore bunch of believers here do accurately represent my neck of the woods. Sometimes they even come across as tame by comparison.

As for non-believers, I'm not sure it's possible to tell how many there really are.

ok. last one.

how stupid does a question or a statement come on in order to contribute to simply being human and humane rather than fishing for supporters of rather obscure agendas?

whatever ism i may be accused of belonging to or not, the world is in such a state of disarray, one cannot do much "wrong" anymore except faking it to be enjoyable.

imho.

p.s. before i get misunderstood again (yes, good folks on the supervisors' list!), i did and do appreciate your notice, even if (or better: since!) it's too late when the very subtlest of hate groups tarnish your reputation.

I went back and looked at old CD polls on religion. It looked like around 32% were Atheist of Agnostic with another 15% being believers but anti religion. I don’t think that ratio would hold up in the general population. Last I saw was 16 to 24% non religious, and I am not sure what a believer who is anti religious would fall under.

LOL George, I could get booted for a couple of days for responding to this post. Hummmmm wouldn't be the first time, but, for today, forbearance shall be my watchword.

On the other hand I seem to encounter more vocal Fundies on the forum than I do in real life. Not that I ever go out of my way to attract Evangelicals.

I think it's more atheist/agnostic than average, but the Christians here I think are also much more likely to be Fundamentalist/Young-Earth-Creationist than American Christians are in general. Also they seems to be a greater number of small/fringe Christian groups than in society at large.

There seems to be a dearth of "mainline" Protestants, Catholics (in comparison to US population), and Eastern Orthodox Christians. There also seems to be relatively few of non-Christian religions. Basically it's Atheist vs Christian Fundamentalists in most discussions, with a noteworthy Christian Universalist element, which makes most discussions rather hostile.

Exactly. I'm a French atheist, and since there can't be more than 50 active posters here I alone significantly affect the average.

Well looking at it from a global perspective I think it's much less Catholic, Hindu, and Muslim than the world. Chinese folk religion is almost totally absent. At the very least we should have more discussions of Mencius or the Tao Te-Ching.
