Want to hear something funny, sad, and a little embarrassing, JerZ? I thought you were talking about the "burning" bushes. I didn't even get that you meant the Georges. Pretty said, huh? Of course, I did help to vote them into office and I proudly stand behind that today. Oops, that P&C, sorry.
Ah, hah hah hah! Oops! I actually wondered if I would get a red dot for bringing something political here even though it was a joke...
But what most Christians don't realize is that in prostyletizing, that is exactly what they're telling us. "Do you want to be saved?" or "Do you want to know the way to salvation?" is usually the opening question. It's a way of getting around not actually saying "you're going to hell," but think about those two statements (questions). Saved from what? Obvious answer there.
When told that we don't want to be condemned in that way, we're usually told:
1. "But I must spread the word; Jesus told us to do that."
2. "It's not me saying it. It's the Bible."
This seems a fairly dishonest way of going about it, in my opinion. And it is the main reason non-Christians get so disgruntled over the whole thing, and probably a large reason why so many people got into arguments over this subject on the Politics & Other Controversies forum, and why we have all followed one another over here. And why, even if we've closed the door on a prostyletizer at 8:30 on a Saturday morning, we've already felt insulted and condemned. This does NOT make our feelings about Christians any the softer, believe you me. So...just in case you're wondering why non-Christians just "won't" see the light...or why we "think" you're telling us we'll go to hell. You are...you're just foisting the blame on the Bible rather than yourselves and saying that you're just the messenger.
p.s. The thing about the Bushes was a joke...you know...humor...ha ha...levity...never mind.
What you write is what you think, what you've heard, and what you feel. I'm not going to argue about your thoughts, hearings, and feelings.
