Personally I like to hone my debate/argument skills and kill boredom at the same time...

Writing is a good way to articulate your thoughts and keep your mind sharp. Plus it's a topic not frequently discussed in real life without the fear of upsetting someone. Far better to upset an anonymous person online than one of your co workers
