A family consisting of mother, father and 5 year old child set sail on a yatch to cruise around the world. The boat capsizes during a torrible storm. Mother and father are killed. Child survives and is swept ashore on a deserted island. Child survives by living on fruits and vegatation and begins to seek and cry out for God to reveal himself to him. The spirit of God begins to move within the child and the child begins to feel Gods presence.
Now, here is the question: What religion will God reveal to the child?
If Christianity: Would God tell him about Jesus, the Virgin Mary, salvation?
If Islam: Would God tell him about Mohammad, the pillars of Islam?
Or...Would God reveal himself to the child as simply God, the eternal spirit, protector, and creater of the universe?
I think God will send a boat load full of Christian missionaries to rescue the child and they can tell him about how Jesus paid a debt he did not owe by his death on the cross.

Romans 1:19 "For the truth about God is known to them instinctively God has put this knowledge in their hearts".
All people have an inner sense of what God requires.
God will send his ministering angels to comfort and care for this child until the boatload of missionaries come to rescue him. God will reveal himself through the ministering of the angels and the missionaries he is sending for the rescue. IMO God does not reveal himself personally, but through the holy spirit and the bible. Therefore he will not sit down and tell the child what religion is right.

Religion? He will not tell him about any religion. Religion is man made with man made rules.
The Spirit that indwells inside him will convict this child and he will know Jesus as his Savior. He will feel God's Holy peace when he is scared, and feel His love surround him and give him comfort.
Thus negating the need for the Great Commission? If the premise holds true that it's possible for this person to have first an understanding (through divine enlightenment) of Christ-based salvation and then choose to accept Christ and follow Him....
This would of course save all the missionaries of the world an awful lot of time and effort, since each person simply chooses or rejects God on their own, without ever needing to hear any other message, yes?
Which brings up a dilemma facing a person who would like to believe God is just:
If a person raised in an information void cannot ever have the chance to hear the message of Christ-based salvation, how can they even be judged by that standard? If an exception is made, or more appropriately if EVERY person is judged on a case-by-case basis, then is the only role of the missionary to INCREASE a person's chance of "choosing to follow Christ" by giving that person the "full story"?
So, for example, if the message had only been taken to the jews and NOT the gentiles, the gentiles would still be able to get to heaven, just through a rougher time of it by not having the "good news" to help them along further in their enlightened decision? I know what I hear at church, but this one has long puzzled me....

There is a verse in the Bible...I will have to look it up...but it says something to the effect that if one has never had the opportunity to hear the "message" they will not be held accountable. The same thing goes for someone if they really and truly do not know something is a sin. I REALLY need to find that verse
HOWEVER...in today's age, it is very hard for me to believe that there could be very many people that do not know of God or Jesus. It would be about as impossible for anyone to NOT know about Jesus (or at least GOD) as it would be for any red blooded American to NOT know about radical Muslims or Islam
God will reveal Wicca as the child thanks Mother Earth for providing life-sustaining fruits and vegetables . . .
